In this episode, Sander introduces “Future Sander” as a simple way to step back while the work is still happening. Not to predict where things are going, but to gain just enough distance to see patterns, shifts, and meaning that are hard to notice from inside the moment.
While the Firestarters podcast focuses on conversations with guests and the outward journey, Behind the Fire looks inward. It’s a space to reflect on how the story is unfolding in real time, how identity evolves through the work, and why certain decisions matter beyond their practical outcome.
This first episode sets the tone for the series. Slower. More deliberate. Focused on understanding the bigger picture as it forms, rather than explaining it after the fact.

In this teaser we follow Nicky, who noticed a small irregularity in his accounting. What seemed minor at first grew into a larger story involving manipulation, hidden motives and the emotional weight of being misled. As more people stepped forward, the situation revealed a pattern that could no longer be ignored.
